Finding your own mantra

In my pursuits of being an engineer, a creative problem solver, and a better person, I found guidance in a direction I had not expected. Not a particularly spiritual person, I was surprised to be introduced to concepts I had previously associated only with the New Age movement. My gateway to these ideas was a “spirit” named Seth, channeled through the unassuming author Jane Roberts. Through Jane, Seth dictated numerous books, including Seth Speaks, which delves into the validity of the soul and the nature of reality, encompassing both the physical and non-physical realms. Seth, considered a significant influence on the New Age movement, taught concepts “You create your own reality through your thoughts, beliefs, and intentions.” This book sowed a seed that swiftly led me down the rabbit hole of spirituality and consciousness, exploring concepts such as the idea of a higher Self. These concepts found parallels in the works of thinkers like Carl Jung and spiritual leaders like Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Through this journey of understanding reality and consciousness itself, meditation, particularly transcendental meditation. Yes, meditation is a tool that is used for a variety of personal goals, often in the context of mindfulness and behavior rewiring. Transcendentalism is about connecting with your higher self, essentially. Part of the (first) goal is quieting the mind that is busy with the details of our lives.  There is a lot going on in our minds, some more than others, so it is difficult to “hear” any information that connects you with who you are.

I seek to understand.
I understand to live.
I live to create.
मैं समझने की कोशिश करता हूँ
मैं जीने के लिए समझता हूँ
मैं बनाने के लिए जीता हूँ
